I don't intend to emulate the game though, I just want to create something that is obviously inspired by. I'd love to know your thoughts guys! Thanks! I'd love to hear any advice you might have! I plan to have it take place during a kind of 1920's prohibition time period, combined with high fantasy elements.

Oh, for everyone, here are some free to use tilesets I made. Publicado originalmente por hyptosis:Well, not what I was hoping to hear. I've been making games for years and do so professionally so having my creativity questions stung :P I intentionally built this tileset as a homage, not because I'm unable to create tiles that don't match. In fact, that would have been more easy than attempting to stay true to the original. Well, I'll have more screenshots soon, and they have such things as cars and other more modern elements that the original ff6 series did not have, we'll see then if you guys still don't like them. If no one likes my work on this, then there is no reason to use my time on it when I can use it on something that people WILL enjoy. Oh don't get me wrong sir, it is entirely well done. What people mean, I believe, is that perhaps on this screen it draws so much inspiration from FF6 that it becomes nearly indistinguishable. I, for one, would love to see more screenshots of your work. I have been making games for over 10 years. In that timespan I have seen many other aspiring creators such as myself. The level of ability as a pixel artist/game dev you have displayed appears to be beyond mine and that is no small task. So please take it to heart when I say to ignore most of these steam users. #oldskoolpwnageĪliveDrive, you should refrain from calling someone a 'n00b' (seriously, leet speak?) simply for stating their opinon. What people were saying is that the lack of originality with the way the tile sets (and sprite) were done feels 'too much' like the inspiration. They stated (again) an opinion, that they felt that hyptosis tried to hard to recreate and forgot to add their own touch into the artwork. Mimicry is the greatest form of a complement. (In fact they said they were very well done.) And not a single person accused hyptosis of not making the sprites. Hyptosis, so far the art looks very nice. Though I would be more interested to learn what you do with the functional aspect of the game rather than just the graphical aspect. (How will you set up the battles? The class system? What about skills/spells? Quests and cut sceenes? That kind of nonsense.) Keep one thing in mind however. You will never be able to keep everyone happy. It is more importiant to keep true to your original vision as much as possible (limitations due to coding etc) and finish the game.Modern RPGs need slick, trendy looks for tilesets, so here it is! Take it all in with this modern exterior tile pack by Kaue Luchetta.

So I changed all of the tileset modes to VX Compatible, and they still don't show up.This MV compatible tile pack contains lots of interesting must-have tiles for modern city exteriors focusing on residential and general town scenes. And when I do, the tiles get mixed up and ruined. I have to always change my map preferences to Field, Exterior, Interior, or Dungeon to access the tiles that I need. I checked the tutorial video again, and saw that I still don't have all the tilesets on hand.

So I finished my house, and was about to fit in a door, when I couldn't find one. So I changed my map preferences and bam, another set of tiles showed up. So I played around with the database and found out that the A, B, and C tiles I currently had were for the Type 1: Field kinda map. So I watched some tutorial videos and saw that the person had way more than that. When I created a new project, I saw that only tiles A, B, and C showed up. Hey, I just got RPG Maker VX Ace and I've already got some issues.
